Parent Academy Mental Health Presenter Biography

Ann Smith is a Licensed Therapist who specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents suffering from depression, trauma, anxieties, anger, autism, grief, emotional outbursts, bullied victims, low self-esteem, learning and developmental disabilities.

Ann provides a client-centered treatment approach that best meets the needs of the children and their families. Her mode of therapies involves Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and solution-focused therapy which provides interventions in the school environment in a safe and non-judgmental manner. Ann encourages children and teens with making healthy choices and assists them with processing their feelings in order to improve functioning and overall wellbeing.

Ann received her Masters of Science in Clinical Counseling from Bellevue University, and is a Retired Veteran of the US Navy. She previously worked at the Veteran’s Day Treatment Center in Little Rock assisting homeless veterans, before joining the team of therapists at Behavioral Health Services of Arkansas. At BHSA she has assisted children and adolescents who are having behavioral challenges in school and at home by conducting therapy in our Day Treatment school, Intensive Residential Care, and currently works as a school-based therapist.
